With the agreement signed between the Ministry of Family and Social Services and AJet, all martyrs' relatives, veterans and veterans' relatives, public personnel disabilities will be able to fly with a 50 % discount on domestic and TRNC flights and 20 % discount on international flights, while persons with disabilities will be able to fly with a 20 % discount on domestic and TRNC flights and 25 % discount on international flights. Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said, "The Ministry always stood by the families of martyrs and veterans who are entrusted to us by the nation. The Ministry will continue to mobilize all its means." 

In her speech at the protocol signing ceremony held at THY Headquarters in Yeşilköy, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said that Türkiye acted with the understanding of being a social state and supported its citizens in every field.

Stating that the Ministry carried out comprehensive policies especially for persons with disabilities, relatives of martyrs and veterans, Göktaş said, "Today we are here to sign a protocol within the framework of the cooperation. In this sense, we are happy to add another one to the services, as the Ministry. I wish that this protocol to be signed will be beneficial for persons with disabilities, relatives of martyrs and veterans benefiting from the facilities provided."

Minister Göktaş noted what the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, had also stated, that the Ministry was working to ensure that no citizen was left outside the umbrella of the government compassion.

Stating that the Ministry was working with great determination to integrate citizens with disabilities into society and enable them to participate in daily life, Göktaş said, "The Ministry has always stood by the families of martyrs and veterans who are entrusted to us by the nation. The Ministry will continue to mobilize all the possibilities. The Ministry continues to support them in every aspect of their needs, from education to healthcare, from employment to care and rehabilitation."

Göktaş pointed out that persons with disabilities, relatives of martyrs and veterans benefitting from social services could use public transportation services free of charge, and continued as follows:

"In this context, the Ministry has made approximately 2.5 billion liras of free transportation revenue support payments to institutions providing services until the end of March 2024. In addition, 234.759 free of charge transportation cards have been delivered to the relatives of martyrs, veterans, veterans' relatives and those who were left with disabilities in the line of duty. Since 2015, the Ministry has offered free school buses to students attending public and private schools and special education classes in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education. The Ministry has provided the opportunity for martyrs' relatives and veterans to travel by plane with a 50 % discount with the protocol signed with THY. 32.909 relatives of martyrs and veterans have benefited from the service since October 2022. Similarly, 248.000 citizens with disabilities have benefited from the service since 2013."

"Citizens will be able to benefit from discounts starting today"

Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of THY, stated that they had gathered for the signing ceremony of the agreement, concerning special discounts for the relatives of martyrs and veterans, and constituting the final map of the steps taken by their partnership towards a completely barrier-free life.

Stating that Anadolu Jet, a 100 % subsidiary of THY, serving since 2008, started its aviation life as "AJet" as of last year, Bolat noted that today the airline had a network of 95 aircraft in its fleet, with flights to 89 destinations in 30 countries.

Bolat, serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AJet, pointed out that the company would provide special facilities and discounts for the relatives of martyrs, veterans, veterans' relatives and passengers with disabilities and said, "We will provide 50 % discount on domestic flights and 20 % discount on international flights to the relatives of martyrs, veterans and veterans' relatives. Citizens will be able to benefit from these discounts from offices or call centers starting today."

Emphasizing that similar discounts would be provided for passengers with disabilities, Bolat said, "Citizens with disabilities would also benefit from a 20 % discount on domestic flights and a 25 % discount on international flights. Being aware of being a national flag-bearing brand, the Ministry will continue to increase the support for the relatives of martyrs, veterans and citizens with disabilities."

Bolat reported that nearly 200.000 citizens benefited from the "Video Call Center" service launched by THY in 2018 to support citizens with hearing impairments.

Bolat underlined that the recent intensity in air traffic and changes in weather conditions in Europe caused delays in flight operations, and added that the performance of European airports was lower compared to Turkish airports.

At the ceremony, attended by AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp and Ministry officials, Minister Göktaş was presented with a model airplane of the company.
