Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş paid a visit to the nursing homes in Aydın.
During her visit to Aydın Governor's Office, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş commented on the attacker who wounded 5 people with a knife in a tea shop in Eskişehir: “Yesterday's incident has once again revealed the gravity and seriousness of the incident. The Ministry has also received messages from families about the issue. The Ministry is determined to fight against digital addiction, which is also an important part of the Action Plan for Families, shared with the public last May.”
Minister Göktaş visited the Governorship of Aydın within the scope of her Aydın program. Speaking after the visit, Göktaş said that she would visit the institutions affiliated to the Ministry in the city and hold a meeting with the directors of children's institutions.
Stating that the Ministry pursued social service policies with an understanding that “[leaves] no one behind”, Minister Göktaş added that with the goal of “Strong women, strong family, strong Türkiye”, the Ministry was implementing family-centered activities one by one.
Göktaş stated that the Ministry supported women in social, political and economic terms by carrying out projects that supported women in every field, especially in employment, and that it had done its utmost to leave a beautiful country behind for children and young persons.
Stating that the Ministry supported citizens with 8 social service centers in Aydın, Göktaş said that the Ministry reached 90.000 households in the city since 2017 within the scope of the family support program.
Göktaş stated that 25.000 people benefited from the family education program, which prepared young persons for becoming a family and establishing a home, since 2013, and continued as follows:
"The Ministry supports women to become successful entrepreneurs with 12 women's cooperatives located in Aydın. Financial literacy and women's economic empowerment seminars have supported 820 women since 2018. The Ministry provides protection and care services to 119 children between the ages of 0-18 under the umbrella of the government's compassion in 22 children's homes in Aydın, where services are provided with a home care model. Today, the Ministry is contributing to the healthy development of 1802 children by protecting family integrity with the social and economic support program. Through 18 social allowance and solidarity foundations located in the city, the Ministry fulfills the need to be a social government and continue to extend a helping hand to those in need. In Aydın, the Ministry provides services to 41 persons with disabilities in 2 care and rehabilitation centers. Furthermore, there are 5 nursing homes, care and rehabilitation centers for older persons where services are provided to 313 older persons. Today, 7.812 citizens benefit from home care allowance in Aydın.”
Göktaş also shared information about the ongoing investments in Efeler, Buharkent, Köşk, Sultanhisar and Çine.

Referring to the incident in Eskişehir where an attacker wounded 5 people with a knife in a tea shop, Göktaş said:
"Yesterday, a teenager in Eskişehir attacked citizens on the street with a cutting tool under the influence of war games he had been playing and unfortunately caused 5 of the citizens to be wounded. First of all, I wish speed recovery to the injured citizens. Psychosocial support teams provide the necessary support to both injured citizens and their families. All the process involving the treatments are closely monitored. In fact, the incident is a concrete indication of the negative impact of digital media and gaming addiction on the health of children and young persons. Previously, cases involving the negative effects of games have been reported. Today, gaming addiction is a serious issue. The incident yesterday has once again revealed the gravity and seriousness of the situation. The Ministry has also received messages from families about the issue. The Ministry is determined to fight against digital addiction, which is also an important part of the Action Plan for Families that has been shared with the public last May.”
Meetings with older persons
Minister Göktaş, following her visit to the Köşk Municipality, travelled to the Aymelek Association in District Efeler. Göktaş chatted with older persons in the association and received information about their activities from Yurdagül Altınbaş, the President Of The Association. Following the visit, Göktaş also visited the institutions affiliated to the Ministry and held a meeting with the officials of the institutions.
